The Problem
The Problem

A private-duty product purchased by Kinnser Software provided assisted-daily-living software to private companies across the US and Canada. Many companies who use the product are franchises; others are corporations with multiple branches. Franchisors and corporate offices had no quick place to view cross-office or cross-franchise performance across specific criteria; instead they had to open individual reports and run reports for one criteria type at a time. Company leadership wanted to provide both a fresh look to the product while also optimizing the interface for tablet usage. We sought to provide a way to allow them to do this.

Based on initial conversations with executive stakeholders as well as analysis of existing reporting structures, the product owner and I developed a hypothesis of dashboard content needs. We met via phone and had a design planning discussion; leveraging online whiteboards to sketch an interaction map in real time. I then built that map in gliffy and validated our approach with stakeholders (who in this case were also our users). Taking major considerations of load times and target environment into consideration, I then developed high-fidelity using Photoshop and Invision App.

The resulting interface allowed franchisors to see royalty, shift, and other agency-specific data across multiple offices simultaneously; as well as narrow their criteria down to a limited set of offices or territories, and change royalty calculations in real-time.
