A local medspa was looking for a way to conveniently and easily track injectibles in real time. Desktop and laptop solutions that existed were not meeting their contextual needs because practitioners were typically not returning to sit at a desk while providing service. Additionally, practitioners wanted a way to take and immediately upload patient photos during service, as well as provide a way for patients to sign waiver documentation.
I did preliminary research with multiple med spas and discovered this was a general problem in the industry.
Initial interviews with potential clients uncovered one core persona, the nurse aesthetician, and two auxillary personas (receptionist and spa owner or administrator). Reviewing existing process documentation and interviewing uncovered specific use case scenarios, process logistics, and pain points of working on paper that we could better solve with the application. For example, adding a photo before and after each injection was a crucial point that was impossible to accomplish with paper.
Based on the outcome of these interviews, I developed a user flow and "red route", or core goal wireframes for the nurse aesthetician. See the red route balsamiq wireframes.
